I've just had the flyer land on my doorstep last week; space to be booked, plans to be made, time will pass.
Volunteers, one step forward please; I may be elsewhere that day...

I might be there.
Would be happy to make tea/coffee etc. and to try and bribe members of the public to join the club. Susie |

I don't think I've got a gig or anything that day, so I should be fine to come up. I can hit most things with a hammer and swear at stuck bolts, if it helps.

Quite happy to deal with trying to sign people up for memberships again. Although, I think a friendly female face paid dividends last year (Susie!)

A good friend of mine rescued a 1500tc (through the club) some time ago. Its pretty solid and far too good to scrap but the engine was crispy ducked.
He sourced a good engine from a 1500 HL, but pressures of work, moving into his own house etc means the car is still at his parents doing nothing. Possible engine swap like we did for Andy P's 1300 3/4 years ago? My mate has his own trailer and could get an engine crane etc.... My slow going Sprint project could do with some sills and wheelarch repair sections,although 2 cars from same location may be difficult on one trailer unless someone could help bring the second vehicle! |

I have my 20 year university re-union that weekend (can't miss last weekend of fresher's week!) so I will be useless. The hotel kicks out at 11am, so with a fresh head and a fast car I could be at Stoneliegh for 1ish...yeah, right!

Almost definate... | ||
|
I can say with 90% sureness I will be able to attend, and also bring the same amount of tooling (and Transit) that I brought last year...
If we are short of "projects" to do on the day, I know a car that needs a new vinyl roof....all the prep could be done beforehand....and it's a job I would prefer someone with a little experience of doing the job to help me out with.... |

Richie, all that 'Evostick' (or equivalent pukka stuff) wafting across the halls will draw the crowds and the traders will be short of plastic bags
Possibly ideal conditions for the job, plenty of hands, plenty of space, no wind, a bit of 240v for heat gun (extra heat if required) |

So what projects are we going to have then? I need to make plans for if I am coming in my car or the Transit, so I can start ordering consumables and tools.

Yep, we need to confirm projects.
Rich has offered his car and the vinyl roof, has anyone else got any projects in mind? Also to get an idea of people available could you confirm availability? Am currently thinking of the rear valance on my sprint, but i reckon there could be a lot more than 1days work even with many hands. Cheers Jeff |

Just a tip or two Jeff;
Consider having a range of jobs to get done, even if only on one car as 'many hands' can only reach limited areas as the bodies get in the way. As a fall back last year, even though we had two cars I took some 'off the car' jobs to keep the stand active...alloy wheels to polish etc Al Williams may not agree, but its a long day, plan for the whole day. No good getting the job done by 2pm... The vinyl roof is a good idea, it will employ several hands and be something different that will make the public and judges sit up in awe...I think you'll need something else too. You need 'visible' jobs Do you have room for two cars again? |

Re: Stoneliegh Restoration Show: 01 October 2006

Yep, looks like you have the option. Either a 4m x 2m or 4m x 4m. What was it last year, did we have 2of 4x4?
Point taken re the jobs, suppose we could do some individual panel jobs, i.e; boot lid, bonnet or door? |

Re: Stoneliegh Restoration Show: 01 October 2006

Well, I ordered the vinyl, 2.5m by 54" from Martrim Coach Trimming Supplies in Middlewich, Cheshire (Tel: 01270 767771) - Specified as EV Grain. Yes, I did mix imperial and metric. Details found in the archive
The front screen shouldn't be a problem, It has only been in for a month on a new rubber and chrome, so should come out easily enough. Now, the BIG question. IF my car is to be one of the projects at the Restoration Show, should I do the removal of the old vinyl (I have a couple of days free next week), or should we do it all in one go at the show. I'm not fussed either way to be honest, and I think it would be nice to have a "clean canvas" to work off at the show, but I am wondering how long the fitment would take, as we don't want to have the job finished by midday. I am going to be naughty and cross post this, just to make sure the right eyes see it/take notice. Added into this: I can fetch some Micromesh for the wheels if we are to do that again, but I can't get it on the roll (nudges Al Williams). I will definately be able to supply the consumables again (blue roll, rag, gloves etc etc), plus welding screen, but if I am coming in my own car, the amount of tooling I can fetch will be limited of course. Jeff, if you are coming to TDCIR I suggest a meeting of the willing workers would be a good idea, so we can get a few lists of items to bring, jobs to do, tooling, etc etc etc. Ahhh....and I think I still have a bag of the name tags, just need someone to be able to print off the tags. They added the professional touch and could be worth that extra tick in the box from the judges..... |

Rich,
I still have the roll from last year. I'll do my best to remember to bring it... |

Re: Stoneliegh Restoration Show: 01 October 2006

Yep, i'll be there at the TDCIR. All willing personnel can discuss ideas there. Though i do need to send off the application form for the club indicating what size pitch we need. Last yr i reckon we had two of the 4x4 pitches, i believe we should go for this again unless we have less volunteers/projects.
Suggestions welcome. Jeff |

Is anyone halfway through an engine build? Putting shiny bits together makes good show material.
